The *George W. and Mary T. Hood Endowed Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for outstanding graduate students in the Master of Science in Counseling programs. Recipients must have a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours, academic talent, leadership qualities, and exemplify altruism. Recipients may maintain the scholarship until graduation with successful completion of course work. The scholarship is only available to students who will be enrolled at Stetson University in the following academic year after completing the application. This merit-based scholarship pays up to $1000 a year while you are taking classes in the program. The award is sometimes split between two deserving students. If you have completed 6 credit-hours, have at least a 3.00 GPA, and feel you meet the above criteria, please submit a 3,000-character (500 to 600 words) (maximum) essay addressing the above-referenced criteria. Please speak to how you, as a student in the Counselor Education Program, contribute positively to your peers, future clients, and the profession through leadership qualities and the practice of altruism.
